Youth Justice Services

Youth Mental Health Court Worker

The Youth Mental Health Court Worker provides support to youth involved in the Youth Justice System (age 12 to 17 years at the time of charge) who struggle with their mental health. The worker will provide the youth with support during the court process and will assist the youth in connecting to local services that may be helpful to them.

Mental Health Diversion Services

Diversion is an option that is offered by a judge to give youth a chance to have their criminal charges dropped or mitigated. This means the charges could be decreased or completely erased. To achieve this, the youth has to follow a treatment plan that the worker and youth create together. This plan usually lasts around 6-8 weeks where the worker would meet with the youth either weekly or biweekly for individual therapy sessions. The workers can also provide family/caregiver therapy.

Court Support Services

If you are receiving court support services, you will receive weekly calls from your worker to check in and see if you have any questions about the court process. They are a point of contact for you during this stressful time to provide any informal support.
