CMHS Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At Children’s Mental Health Services (CMHS), we are committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment where every child, youth, caregiver, staff member, and community partner feels valued, heard, respected, and safe to be themselves.
As the trusted provider of mental health support for children and youth in Hastings, Prince Edward Counties, we recognize that diversity includes, but is not limited to, race, ethnicity, culture, language, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion, socioeconomic status, and lived experience. We acknowledge that systemic barriers exist and are committed to actively identifying and reducing inequities in our programs, services, and workplace practices.
Equity guides our decisions by ensuring fair access to opportunities, resources, and supports, and by adapting our approaches to meet diverse needs. Inclusion shapes how we listen, collaborate, and deliver care so that all individuals can participate fully in spaces that are safe and affirming.
We believe people do their best and receive the best care when they feel respected, represented, and supported. By embedding equity, inclusivity, and accessibility into everything we do, we strengthen our culture, improve access to care, and create meaningful, lasting impact for the communities we serve.
Our commitment to DEI is not a one-time initiative. It is an ongoing responsibility that requires listening, learning, challenging bias, removing barriers, and being willing to change. We continuously reflect on our policies, training, and practices to ensure we remain accountable to our values and responsive to the diverse lived experiences of our community.
